Breeding question about size and age?

msubigdawg May 14, 2005 05:05 PM

I have heard that you should wait till a female is atleast 3 yearls old or 4 years old and then the male can be as young as 2. I was wondering what everyone else does and what size that they think the female should be atleast before breeding.

I have had females breed at 2.5 years old and some not breed until 5 years old. Alot depends on the snake. Size is a difficult way to judge because different localities have different sizes. 3.5 years old is a good norm. The males will at times breed at 18 months old, they don't invest nearly as much energy into the whole breeding thing that femals do.
I hope this helps
