I'm sure you may not realize it but I can see information like this being used against us in various circles that would love to ban reptiles. I'm not sure documenting it here would be such a great idea.
"are we a humaniac?" This to me just seems od.

i realy didnt plan on using them aganst anyone.
The worst bite I have ever received was from a Large female guyanan red tail. I knew she was not in any mood to be handled and was stressed from being transported from another city to be delivered to me at a reptile show. I was was not being careful enough and she struck my hand. The damage was a few rows of pin holes, now worse than an diabetic would self inflict to test blood sugar. After carefuly putting her away I casually went to the washroom to clean up, washing the injured hand with soap and water.
On another note, I have a 3 inch scar on the back of right hand from being scratched by a dog. My son recieved a nasty dog bite when he was two when he grabbed my dog at the time's rawhide while it was IN his mouth. I have seen and had a few nasty scratches from cats, really painful bites from cute fluffy hamsters, and have seen hand heard stories of injuries from parrots and children permenantly disfigured by domestic dogs. Aswell my mother in law had her leg shatterd by a horse. As a matter of fact I have watched Johny Carson get bitten numerous times from animals brought on his show from the Sandiego Zoo, and countless news outtakes of news casters being accosted by horses, camels and ostriches.
The moral of the story here is animals are just that, animals. And snakes are no different. To live with any animal is to accept the inherent risk of which injuries that specific animal can inflict. Just as with the laws that govern our society, ignorance of this fact is not an acceptable excuse. That just makes one an irresponsible pet owner.

this is what happen to me my first time nailed. It was a hot day last July. I just got out of the shower and their was an odor that was coming for the snakeroom. So I put a towel around me to go investigate. I seen that one of my racks had fog in it, as I went to slide the rack open my towel happen to fall off. Not thing I went back to opening the rack at that time my Hypo boa about 14 feet came flying out like something I never seen, I jumped back as fast as I could but it didn't help. My hypo garbed hold of my little peewee and had lunch. I fell to the ground yelling but no one was here to help. The hypo was rapping around me with only one hand free I reached for the phone to call 911. The site of the blood was making me sick. I felt myself starting to pass out. Then I woke up and had a smoke....lol

Well I've never been bit by my current boa or pythons yet ,key word yet, as I avoid handleing them w/o following the basic rules. #1 I wash hands after handling potential snake food items ie rats, mice, fowl before handling snake . #2 I keep a hand on the head of unfamilar snakes, known aggressive,defensive,&/or strong feeding response; along w/ an watchful eye( this works on familiar snakes). #3 I observe the snakes body language if you watch it will tell you if it is going to strike either in defense(hissing, squirming,& S curl; or hunger.
I was bit by my now deceased Emerald Tree while force feeding, this was due to my finger being still in her mouth when she closed down. The tooth went through the mouse & into my finger tip. Ive been bit my king/milksnakes b/c the always smell food(other reptiles) in the air. Oh yeah the other rule is never handle a large constrictor or venomous w/o someone in ear shot, preferably eye sight. This is to inform beginers as how to lessen the chances of being bit.
If you keep animals of any type there is a chance of it biting. I always tell people if has a mouth it can bite, is it asgressive is the more correct question. I've been bit by more rodents(mainly hamsters) then any reptile.
