Myrtle's being lazy...and giving me the S dance!

chunks_89 May 15, 2005 03:20 PM

I just moved her into a ~80 gal rubbermaid container until i can build a new tank for her, she seemed ever so happy when i did so on friday. Since then, however, she refuses to bask and eat, and when i try waking her up, she will get very frightened and then angry, and give me the S dance thingy, looking like a shark when its swimming.

Could it be stress from the move into the new cage? The temps are fine, though the end opposite the basking light is at about 77F. She's got a thin boxboard box with a small hole to hide in, as well as a half-log next to a flat rock on which to bask.

What could be wrong?

I just weighed her and she's just under 80 grams.

Did you move her out of a cage with an open top? I can't remember... It could definitley just be stress from the move. If you put some additional stuff in there, so that she feels protected getting to the basking spot (and while basking) she might be braver sooner.

Good Luck!
