Banded water snake

I found picked this snake up in the athletic field at my school. It was causing quite an uproar.

Nice looking banded there. Did you keep it? Where are you from? Looks just like mine that I have been posting pics of for the last year or 2.

It was found in Cocoa Florida. It was released a couple of days later in a wooded area with a canal running through it.

Gorgeous snake! I have a big female that looks just like that, very red, with no black pigment on her anywhere, and a simply spectacular belly. I'd wondered if this was just a color phase of the more-usual dark brown Bandeds, or a hypo, or what. I picked her up at the Raleigh show a few weekends ago. She is very calm and docile as well as pretty, though with her girth I'm wondering if she might be gravid.
