EGGS ????

MARK FARRELL May 16, 2005 08:13 AM

Hi Friends - Despite the fact I never saw my pair of Easterns officially hook up. My very short (little over 4ft) 8 year old female dropped 4 eggs. One is definetly a dud. It's tiny. However, the other three measure about 3 to 31/2 inches long by 1 1/2 wide. They were dropped on Friday 5/13, they have NOT turned white. They are still a light shade of tan. They have not shrunk. Yet they still have the same smooth texture. I have them 80 % humidity 79 temp, paper towels is the incubation medium.
I think I'm wasting my time. What do you think ? She did this to me several years ago and all 3 eggs at that time were duds too.
All comments are welcomed and appreciated. If you agree they sound bad let me know. I don't really want to get my hopes up unless its realistic

Mark

I've never seen a fertile indigo egg that didn't have granular surface. But it hurts nothing to keep them going. Good luck.

It can't hurt to try incubating, if infertile they will rot soon enough. I was curious about the 4' eight year old...how could this be? Is there anything about her besides small size that is unusual? I have heard about a few others that are small, and I wonder if this is a genetic anomally or perhaps just the small end of the normal range? It will be interesting to see if/when she produces fetile eggs if the hatchlings reach "normal" adult size. I would be interested in knowing where you obtained her and if you noticed anything unusual as a neonate, answer via my e-mail if you prefer. Good luck!
