i used to keep timors they range from 18-28 inches 28 being huge
This was my oldest monitor, I didnt have room at the time for him so a good friend kept him for a few years (I had him for about 3 years, he was wild caught and grew from 16-29.5 inches long). Recently he was sold at a reptile show, I wish whoever the guy was alot of luck with him, the guy thought he was a mangrove monitor at first as he was so big. This is Squirt..

There are multiple types of what one would consider "dwarf" monitors. The most popular, readily available and an excellent first monitor would be the ackie (v. acanthurus acanthurus or v. acanthurus brachyurus) aka red or yellow ackies. There are many more available, the timor, which is generally less expensive than an ackie but usually quite secretive and shy and then a host of others. Some you will find are not available in the US at all. Research the ones you are interested in and then check for availability in your area. Good luck.
