To survive, no. Although, some well placed and contained plants can make a cage look nice. But they introduce some issues for keepers. If you want the plant look, I suggest silk plants and something simple.

I have little cannabis plants in my BP's enclosure. He seems to really like them, and they have drastically increased his appetite. In fact, I keep finding empty Cheetos bags hidden under his water bowl.

Helps curb the aggression, too.
