Back in the good ol days when gas was cheap and you could afford to hunt during full moon, half moon, quarter moon, etc...
It didn't matter cause you could hunt anytime. With gas so expensive I think most are hunting only at close to peak times to keep costs low and maximize chances to see target species...

Or...

Maybe it is the fact that the weather is so cool this year, and for once I am complaining that it is not hot enough.

Either way it all adds up to less time looking for snakes.
At least around here anyway.

What do you think Chris?

Take Care,

Steven

It is still a little early in the season for the big rush, but I think your odds are better on a moonlight May night than they are on a dark July night. And of the two live alterna I ever found, one was on a quiet July night!

I will probably go out this week for a night or two.

Hey Chris,
My good friend Robert Edwards called me last night reporting that he found 5 lepidus in Val Verde, Sutton and Edwards counties. This shouldn't surprise many who know him, he can sniff them out from just about anywhere. He also said that John Wisser and a gentleman from the San Antonio Zoo collected 6 lepidus as well. Rumor has it that Wayne caught an alterna west of Langtry and another was sited over on the Gap but eluded capture.
Can't wait to get out myself.
