Your snakes look like hurricanes, especially the male. Very nice.

Great stuff. I was hoping so.
Am i right that its the thicker black borders around the saddles that determine the Hurricanes?

Any other opinions?

Most hobbyist would consider that pattern to be hurricane. Usually the first pattern right at the neck and head is elongated but all the others are circles. The second pic shows the first part but the next 6-7 spots where the background shows are elongated.
I think some breeders would consider the pattern as Hurricane and some would not. Sometimes it's a matter of trying to set more strict standards so they can say mine are "true" or "those aren't really ...." Hate to say it but I guess it's part of the sales pitch.
As an example: What if you had a pair that showed the motley pattern, their hatchlings showed it, but a couple of them also showed some checkerboard belly scales? Would you call that hatchling a motley? Some breeders would and some would not.

This comes up alot. The best explanation for the difference between a regular motley and a hurricane motley is exemplified on a meterological map. The symbol for a hurricane is a swirling circle with a concentric space inside. The inside circle represents the eye of the storm.

If these had been named donut motleys, nobody would be misidentifying them. The markings must resemble a donut to be considered a hurricane motley. Many think if you have good circles down the back of a motley, this is a hurricane. That would be true if the circles are bordered concentrically with broad margins. The two snakes you pictured here are hurricane motleys.

This picture shows a typical amelanistic hurricane motley on top. Note the concentric margins. While the bottom example is a beautiful pattern with good circles, they're not bordered concentrically. Hence, it is not a hurricane motley.

This one shows those two snakes together. The lower one is a sunglow motley with nice markings, but it's not a hurricane. The amelanistic hurricane motley above it has typical hurricane markings, but lacks the vibrancy of colors the sunglow motleys exhibit. Note that like aztecs and zig zags, the hurricane (donut) markings do not have to go the full length of the snake.

. . . my eyes. Well, it lacks the concentric "donuts" to qualify it as a hurricane, but JEFF that is one beautiful snake. Thanks for the post.

By looking at those comparisons id say i prefer normal motleys to Hurricanes.
Are Hurricanes not as common or simply a variance of the motley pattern?
Thanks for those pics they really explained it well.
