Field pics of a Va. Black Rat, Cowsucker, pilot snake, whatever LOL

Found this guy half on the road, half on the grass. A good size Black Rat, I'd guess over 6 feet easy. I took my photos and he stayed there right beside me in the classic freeze mode, LOL
This picture was taken at York River State Park, Va. After the pics I gave him a little nudge to get him off the road so he wouldn't get hit. Even then he was never aggressive with me touching him.

Very nice photos. The name Pantherophis obsoletus obsoletus works best for me. That was one very fine looking snake. Since I live in that area, maybe I will one day get a chance to see it myself or one of its offspring. Thanks for sharing.
