Well, since they are hardly ever seen offered, especially for an adult pair, I myself wouldn't sell them for anything less than $500 for the pair, depending on their status. If they are large adults, in relatively good condition inside and out, you could safely go well above that. However, if they are in poorish condition, recent imports, haven't been treated, etc, I wouldn't go any more than that. Just my thoughts anyway.

Very lucky if you're getting that pair. A pair like that would be pretty valuable. Also, if you have success in getting them to breed, that'll be probably the first time in the US to happen. Most sources on water cobra info won't even state a clutch size, so not a whole lot is known about these snakes.

I have a captive bred and born Boulengerinia annulata (banded water cobra) that was bred here in Tampa by a good friend of mine. I have knowledge of another here in Florida who also bred them and the person I got mine from is sitting on some eggs right now. People have been keeping snakes for a long time, there isn't much that has not been bred.

Well that's certainly good to hear. I'm glad there are people having success in breeding them. But by all means, tell your friends to write articles or something for publication. Not much at all is known about the reproducion of water cobras, and like I said, I've never found a source that would even give clutch size. How many eggs did your friends' snakes lay?

The Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin, Tx has bred them.
