Yellow Egg-like things in cage

Agent-17 May 17, 2005 01:31 AM

I have an albino california king snake, about 5 years old and just recently i have been finding yellow egg like things, they are small cylinder things about 2 inches long and half an inch wide with a hard outer yellow layer and a gooey inner yellow layer. I have found about 3 of them in the past 3 weeks in the snakes cage but i have not been able to see where they are coming from. i feed him one mouse about every 2 weeks and this is the first time i have found these yellow things in the cage instead of the regular fecies that i find. Does any one know what these are? Thanks.

Wouldnt that mean that he is actually a she? for all this time i thought it was a male snake. These small yellow things are really infertile eggs?

Yes, they are un-fertilized eggs. Your male is obviously a female and is old enough to breed. You just need to find a male to fertilize those eggs next year. Good luck and post some pictures of your "new" girl.

Good picture of an albino striper. Notice the tail is short, tapers abruptly past the vent, and somewhat "stubby", this is a typical female. A male's tail is usually longer and more gradually tapered. These are typical guidlines but some individuals may vary considerably.
