The thing that really and truly peaves me the most about ads,is the untruthfulness and dishonesty factor just to make a buck or two.I mean if you go out and buy 500 ch baby b/ps,then dont try to sell them as cb babies.Another thing that really gets me about this whole issue of ads is the "morph" craze that seems to be going around.First you have someone selling actual pieds, hetpieds, albinoes, corals, sunglows, and hets for everything else, and all of a sudden everyone has a new morph when its actually a very "RARE" but beatiful nonetheless NORMAL.If by chance you do have a het for granite spotted dalmation then please by all means show proof so every single person who has a normal doesnt think that theirs is the same morph without proving genetics first. If you cant provide the necessary paperwork or proof of genetics then sell it as a normal and not some gentic mutation that cant be shown to be of existence. is selling a normal ball python for $750 because it has a jungle look to it. There are thousands of these animals brought in to this country and they are about $6 each, to me this is highway robbery to sell animals that will pan out to be most likely be nothing in the years to come. There are many people out there that are not quite sure of what they are buying. And a lot of these wholesalers who bring these animals into the country are cleaning up on people thiking they're going to be able to prove out a darker ball by buying the animal for a fortune. I just hate to see people get taken for a ton of money when most of these animals have been bred over and over again and nothing has ever panned out. Perfect example.....STRIPE..There are millions of striped animals out there, i think two different fully striped animals like the genetic stripe for one have proven genetic and the one Dan and Collette have i believe is a different animal. All the others you see are really only worth a little more then the importer paid for them. Do not get me wrong i understand the feeding, flagyl and other things go into the animals but these dont bring the price of a partial stripe baby ball up to $350. My two cents..Thanks for bringing this up Dave

I wanted to put a picture of a bunch of striped animals i sold for $30 each where on here they might go for up to $300. I cant get the pic to work, sorry.

Anyone see the so called Mojaves that look EXACTLY like normals for sale in the classifieds.....what is this hobby coming too?

Dave

capbruce May 17, 2003 09:17 PM

Yeah i seen them. This is exactley what im talking about in my rant before hand. It's great that someone points these things out. Yeah apparenlty some people have no idea what a mojave looks like.

Statements like "Could be genetic", "Might be ...", or more recently, someone with a normal for $350 stated that several of his breeder buddies were holding back balls with this same characteristic because it could be genetic. These are all misleading statements made by individuals that are out to make a quick $$$. They are preying on individuals that are also looking to make a quick $$$. They want instant gratification, overnight success.
You can get lucky and get something special in your "Lot" purchase. Then comes the work, raising it, breeding it, and producing offspring with the same characteristic. That doesn't happen over night.
