Hello Forum-
I have a question for all of those who have witnessed mating of their uros.
Mine are Egyptians-so egyptian specific would be ideal, however not necessary.
What is:
Mating rituals time prior to copulation?
Period of time of actual copulation?
Behavior after completion of copulation?
Seasons?
Some of these are fairly common in literature but as the popularity of Uros grows I am wondering about deviations of the normal.
I ask this because my male who was quarantined for about 4 months and forced out of brumation by a very nasty run of health, has had a go with my one female in which the courtship goes like this :
Head bobbing followed by the mad dash to the female(who usually runs away) he grasps her by the back of the neck and positions her along side . He acually flipped her upside down 2x. I never saw any inverted hemipenis or actual copulation. I did notice that after an initial struggle by the female she seemed to relax and allow him to move her around. Once I had felt there was no imminent doom for either, I left the room. I did this very hesitantly because two years ago I returned to find a blood all over the walls of the enclosure and two uro with mouths locked together. That is why I am wondering a safe time to leave the room. The latest incident I noticed that the female was exhibiting some really pale colors with a definite mottling post courtship.
Thanks for any input-and sorry for the long post.
