cage painting

i am goin to be painting my cage white. Should i use a primer before i paint or not and are there any other concerns while painting or not thanks

Is the cage wood? If it is a porus wood like pine or fir it may need a couple of coats. As for priming, choose the paint you want to use and follow the directions on the can. If it is new unpainted wood probably don't need to use anything, but check the paint for directions. Use a water based paint that is safe for baby furniture, but dries to be scrub and waterproof. Let the cage dry thoroughly before using it so the paint can seal and not release any fumes.
