Quick question about heating

dmg Jul 12, 2003 09:03 AM

I'm just wondering what the maximum temperature in my cage should be. With the light on i'm getting roughly 94 degrees at one end of my aquarium down to about 78 at the other end, light off 88 at one end and 75 at the other end. I have two hides, one with a temperature of about 88, the other about 77. I'm using an UTH connected to a thermostat which is currently on the lowest setting, It just seems to me like the ground temp my be a bit too high.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

How big is the cage? Where does the snake stay? My adults are always away from the heat and my yearling is near it. But the high in my adult's tank is only 90-92 also it is a 50gal breeder and loads of room away from the hot. And the low side is still 80. If you want a cooler hot spot lower the wattage of the bulb.
