try putting the pinkies in and leave him alone. My gold tegu does not eat when I am In the room. Also try covering three sides of the cage if it is glass. ,and put him in a room that dosnot get alot of traffic. Whats you night temps . keep the night temps 75-80. He is wild caught so he is probly scared. Thabnks Russ

Like Russ said, take some paper or cardboard to a few sides of the tank if it's an aquarium and put him in a quiet room where he can feel more relaxed. Leave some pinkies in there in a bowl and check every hour or so.

If that doesnt work try boiling an egg and put in a small chunk of egg for an hour. I have yet to see a healthy tegu refuse a bit of egg. Even when stuffed full of rodents and ground turkey.

Note that infertile eggs are not really good for a tegu if give in large amounts so only do this to get something into him. If you can get him to eat the egg then try rubbing egg on a pinkie and put the pinky back in. Scenting the foodsource with something a picky tegu likes, will normally get them eating.

I hope that helps. Let us know.

Well, he looks like a healthy fat little thing. Give him some time to adjust to his new home and new surroundings. Don't stress him out. Just let hime chill for awhile.

My newest addition to the collection, a young B&W columbian wouldnt eat a pinky but he had no problem taking crickets so i scented a pinkie with a few crickets and he was on it in under a minute. Try that if you havent been doing anything else.
