BUGS INSIDE WATER BOWL!!!

aliaime May 17, 2005 03:45 PM

I just disinfected and cleaned my herp enclosure for my Red-tail Boa. I also wash and scrub all the Jungle Gyms when cleaning. The very next day I noticed 4 to 5 black tiny bugs swimming inside her water bowl. I don't know where they came from. Any ideas??? I have 3 cages but the insects come from the same cage all the time. Right now, my Boa stays on top of her Jungle Gym most of time.

Your best bet is to order some provent-a-mite. You can find people selling it here on the classifieds in the caging/supplies section. In the mean time, use a little dish soap with some warm water. Check out www.allboas .com under the information section for this method.

The info was useful. I soaked my herp with liquid soap for 2 hours but noticed the mites were coming from the Jungle Gyms I have in the enclosure. I noticed the dead mites after I soaked the Gyms in a solution. Right now I quarantined my Boa to see any reaction. Thx
