I never see my firebellies eat either, but maybe thats because I'm not always there to watch them. If they get skinnier or sick I would worry. Otherwise, its not worth the anxiety over it. I feed mine frozen bloodworms, daphnia, tubifex worms, and black worms, as well as chopped up earthworms. What temps are you keeping the newt at? Do you dechlinate the water? How much water is in the tank? Does the newt have a piece of dry land to come out onto?
Also, I didn't get to look up too much about all my pets before I got them. That doesn't mean that things can't change after you buy them. Now I always look them up. My firebelly was fed newt pellets for about a week because I didn't look up them enough to see what they like better. She is still thriving and has produced several babies for me this spring. There is always a second chance.
kool.i have a couple places for it to climb up onto land.i feed it frozen blood worms.im not to sure bout the temps but im gessing around 65-75 deggress.
