My first hatchling ever is a still-born >>>

Cleopatra Jul 12, 2003 09:56 AM

I gently took her out of her shell and yes, she is a still born baby. But, she is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL hatchling I have ever seen. Bright yellow with swirls of black...a jungle baby. I have no clue how it happened, but my high yellow and normal leos produced a jungle. I am leaving her in the incubator for a bit, just to see if she comes too (I am hoping she may just be a really weak baby which sometimes happens). I will take a pic of her before I bury her later on today. She is so beautiful...I just don't know what went wrong.

She sounds like a beautiful hatchling. Do the other eggs still look alright?

Her sister's egg shrunk last night, and I know her sister is in there, but I am not sure if her sibling died as well since the shrunken egg has not shown any signs of hatching. I still have two more good eggs incubating (with a few iffy ones as well) so I will have at least a couple more chances. I don't know what went wrong with this clutch...they made it and then they die the day before or the day the are due to hatch. This has been a disaster

She had been lying there for a while ever since her tail split through the egg (it was her tail, not her snout that put a hole in the egg). So I opened the slit, thinking maybe she needed it as a stimulant and I realized her eyes were closed and she wasn't reacting to anything. I left her like that for a while longer, but when I checked again she was like the way I left her, So I gently took her out of the egg and found out she was dead

From your pic it seems that she slit through way too early.
Its neck was underdeveloped so today shouldnt have been its day to hatch. It would have been at least another week or so before it was to hatch. If I were in your position, I wouldnt tamper with them at all until they rot.
