How is furniture-grade (cabinet-grade) birch plywood?

I would like to use this material since it has an artificial covering of "mock wood" and it's inexpensive.

Is it strong enough to be used on an enclosure that's going to have multiply enclosures placed on it? Does it need to be treated to make it water-proof?

Yes it needs to be treated to seal it. I would use 3/4 inch thick.
