Gaigeae Incubation Temps???

CoreyGreene May 17, 2005 08:56 PM

It seems that there are quite afew people frequenting this forum that are currently keeping/breeding Gaigeae, perhaps you guys could help me out.

This is my first attempt at breeding black milks and so far I have been succesful. I currently have 2 very gravid females that are going thru their pre-egg laying sheds right now.
However I am still unsure of the proper incubation temp, I've heard everything from 76-82. Normally Id stick with average colubrid incubation temps, but I wasnt sure how much the higher elevation of this species habitat would have on their incubation temps. That question lead me to believe that they might be in need of a lower incubation temp.

Anyone who has succesfully hatched out a clutch of gaigeae please share the following info: # of days from pre-egglaying shed to egg depositation, incubation temp, incubation duration.

Thanks!

Corey Greene

It looks like we posted on the same subject at almost the exact same time... I've heard 80 days at 80 degrees... better too cool than too hot, as high temps can cause deformities, cooler temps will just cause the eggs to take longer to hatch.
