Back from Utah; pics

Just got back from SE Utah and had a blast. I found and photographed about 15 adult male yellowheads. I found ZERO females; pretty odd don't ya think? I'm trying to come to some kind of conclusion to that; any thoughts, anyone? Maybe males emerge first, very similar to Rubber boas? Or, the cool weather before the weekend kept the females down longer? They were more difficult to find this time; unlike years before. Found them all in rocky grassy areas; could not find a single animal in the big rock piles.

Nice yellowhead photos. Not sure why there wasn't any females. Wonder if they are under laying eggs. Seems alittle early for collareds that far north but maybe they got an early start this year?
