Bad news.

After getting 6 perfect erebennus, I had 3 more to hatch.
36 hours went by and nothing.

I decided to go ahead (as I usually do at this point) and cut a square out of the top of the shells, make sure the snakes inside were indeed alive, and then give them a day or so to come out on their own.

On cutting the eggs...no response from the babies. NO movement.
all 3 were dead. 2 were fully formed and dead, the third appeared to have been dead for some time...not nearly as developed as the rest.

This brings me to a delimma...

I Sexed the babies and there are 3.3

Unfortunatly, I have about 50 people who want babies.

Here's the order I have them in:

1: AC (from the forum) I sold him a female last year and he's been on the list since then for a male...so he get's 1.1
2: Chris aka "Gila" from the forum...has been on the list for a year for 1.1
3: Mike Bates of Columbus, OH, has also been on the list for a year for 1.1
4: YOU. so...as you can see...there will be only one snake, a female left to offer to you.

I'm real sorry, was really hoping to be able to hook you up with a pair or a trio.

Do you want the single female?
No prob of course if you don't, but let me know...you still have first dibs on it if you do.

Dean

Sure! Absolutely, I'll take her. We'll just try again next year and maybe I'll end up with a trio.....

I meant to emai it to oldherper...not post it.
I try not to post anything that anything at all to do with sales.

sorry...

Dean,

it's cool! At least I'm #1 on someone's list! lol
Good thing you didn't badmouth me or Chris, or we'd have to pickup Dannio and head to Bengal-Land! haha

Very nice, & mega-congrats from mojo & I. How many of these little cribo-negros are you expecting?
Re: your couperi,... male infertility would appear to be the problem, why else would a sow expend the resources to develop the ova? I have never encountered fertility problems, tho we suspected it a number of years ago w/ the problems we were having breeding green rat snakes. I'd say it is unlikely unless you are using 1 boar for all your sows, I prefer to use multiple boars whenever possible. W/kings & gophersnakes; egg production every year is the norm. One of my buddies has doubled & triple clutched his getulus! W/ rockboas, I routinely observe the sows do not produce young every year, despite having adequate body mass. Ah the beauty of biology, the more we look...the less we seem to understand...
