Puffy eyes

HerpQueen Jul 12, 2003 10:47 AM

My female Veiled seems to have developed some fluid collection in her eyes. It is not making the skin discolored, nor any vision problems. I only noticed it when she blinks, because the outer edge of the eye (near the socket) puffs out rather unusually. It has been stable for about three weeks, and she does not seem to get any discomfort from it, except maybe a little excessive blinking. Is there any thing that I can/should do? Thanks for any help.

Ps: She is about 2 years old, never had any other problems except for a recent shed problem (2 mos ago).

If you've had her in your care that long chances are it is not a husbandry problem (such as needing better lighting or vitamin or mineral imbalance). Does she have any collection of fluid (edema) under her chin or around the throat? Does this seem related to her egglaying cycle? Sometimes females who have recently laid a clutch get a bit of edema around the throat. Other than that I don't know.

No fluid collection around the throat that i can notice... And I really don't know her egglaying cycle. She's never produced any for me before. Thanks for your reply.
