Another successful year

LdyDrgn May 18, 2005 02:53 AM

Our female Tiger ratsnake laid 9 viable eggs, 0 slugs, for us in her first clutch this year. All 9 are developing nicely. I caught the male courting her again, so the second clutch will soon be on its way!

You know I love Spilotes...but...I have to say I'm having large, high metabolism snake burn out. Too much cage cleaning and too many rats!!

Hey...did you end up selling the high-yellow female you produced to Dan Felice to pair up with the high yellow male he got from me?

If so...He should be producing some killer babies in a year or so.

Show us baby pics when they hatch.
Good Luck!
Dean

LOL Dean, I hear ya!

Yes, Dan got that female and he is very pleased with her.

Pics will be posted when they hatch which should be mid-late July. Thanks again for your helpful advice

We will also be picking up a reverse trio soon on an 'indefinite breeding loan'. I have a screamer hold back female from that first clutch that is with a friend right now (she looks like a Diamond x Jungle with her spots and stripes). As soon as she is ready to breed she will be paired with the nicest male in that trio.

Looks like I better get a bigger incubator by next year! ROFL

yes she did dean and she's growing leaps and bounds, about 4' or so right now. your guy has outgrown his second cage [over 8'] and will soon move into his swanky permament quarters while he awaits 'lil michelle to grow up. he has become quite calm and is no longer mean and aloof, surveying house activities w/ great interest. she needs to do some catching up in that area but she'll come around eventually. thanks for the great [s.] american snakes guys! i'll get better pics of him when i move him should i survive.

Glad to hear she's doing well, Dan! I can't wait to see updated pics of her.

Dan,

I'd settle for a crappy picture. Have you ever posted one here? I'm working with Dean's old breeders, and from what I heard from him, your snake is THE standard for what this pair capable of. The variation of the hatchlings is one of fun things about Spilotes (I'm expecting a clutch any day now and my fingers are getting cramps from all the fidgeting).
