i don't think he would be a tang carrot-tail from Petco, but, who knows. can you get pics, it would be great to see the little guy. i don't think it was the best idea to handle him so soon, but i doubt it will affect him too much, if at all. have you tried feeding him? it's best not to handle until he's feeding.

Congrats! If he's from Petco, he's probably normal phase (which, I have to add, pure normals are actually one of my favorite leos), but there's always a small chance he's tangerine. Do you have a pic of the little guy? Good luck with him! Freddie's a cute name!

Normally, Petco charges really high amounts for anything they think is out of the ordinary (saw a very young juvie albino for 70 bucks!?). Occasionally they do make mistakes and charge you the price of a normal leo for a tang but it is unusual. Most likely you have a bright normal or high yellow on your hands with a bit of orange on the tail (my high yellow has a good amount of it on his tail). This is my normal and high yellow leo Beanie and Phoenix.

Congratulations, but I doubt it is a hypo tang carrottail. I am sure it has happened but it is hard to believe that you went and picked up a hypo tang carrottail for $30 or so, and everyone else spends hundreds on them. Either way, i would love to see a pic. Do you have a camera??

would really love to see pics if you have them if not can you try to descibe him in detail. I have seen some really out of the way leos in pet stores for cheap. Hopefully he is a real winner. Keep us informed on Freddies progress

Don't hold him too much. Give him a day or two to settle in without you picking him up or bothering him. He needs time to adjust. What is that nature bark stuff you have him on??? Make sure it is safe and he can't eat it or get some in his eyes! Congrats again on the new leo, post some pics if you have a camera!

Didn't everyone tell you OVER AND OVER not to put him on bark! Bark ust isnt safe at all! It was a bad choice even after everyone here told you more than once that it wasnt safe....I just cant understand why you dont take the advice we give you its for you and your geckos sake....remove him from the bark asap!

I would take it for a vet checkup with a fresh stool sample to be safe. I bought a Mountain Horned Dragon from Petsmart and he turned out to have a lot of bacterial loads in him, though I didn't realize it til he died..well it was a she, but I thought it was a he so I named her Bob.
Chances are nothing is wrong, but you never know. Its better to catch it now before it becomes a reaaaaaaaallly expensive bill for treatment.
I take my BD in for a checkup on wednesday. He may have Coccidia, which I am unsure where he got it from, but it possible I cross contaminated between lizards. If he does have Coccidia, I am going to have to keep super insane anti-bacterial soap all over the house so I don't cross contaminate to my Leos, especially Alwen, she is just too young to deal with it and the poor thing has been through enough.

If you think your BD has coccidia I would do more than just wash my hands... I always have a box of latex gloves around incase something pops up, and would advise you to use gloves in this instance.

Coccidia is incredibly hard to get rid of if you are treating just one herp, much less a whole collection. Really nasty bugger.
