Congratulations Tracy on your super spotnoses...

VoiceOfTruth May 18, 2005 08:50 PM

You must finally feel vindicated by producing a super spotnose. I know there were a lot of doubters, nay sayers and even some open scoffing at that project.... Heck, I'll admit to being one of those myself.... But I'll also be the first to admit how wrong I was..... Those supers are very hot looking snakes and you should feel justifiably proud of your accomplishment. Congratulations and I hope you have a good time rubbing our noses in it..... LOL

I don't suppose "homozygous spotnose" has any sort of ring to it ... oh well. Congrats on such an awesome looking snake!

coldthumb May 21, 2005 11:38 PM

Mike, that's what I thought too-Bumblebee x lab burm-funny, but leave that cross to Kevin!

Re the comments above and feelings re people not believing in this particular look-I don't think that way-I think more it just reflects that there are always animals that do something for whatever reason for people-and that's why there are "turtle" people or "lizard" people or green tree python fans etc etc. There are many times that I'll pick a snake let's say out of a clutch of babies I really like-and if I ask someone "which one do you like?" and rarely does he/she pick the one I liked. I think that is a very fascinating thing-how each of us view animals, paintings, cars, etc etc. The cool thing about snakes is that the variation usually covers a ton of tastes-the amazing variability in a group of snakes then attracts a wide group of people-this is a good thing. I remember quite a few times when I have either shown people directly at a show or at our place or sent animals to people that when they saw them, they said "wow this is so much neater than I thought it would be from the pictures etc." The spot-nose project is a great example-quite a few people have written me about the spot-nose, (though in reality few people have ever actually seen one-which is my fault more than anything; because I have only taken two babies, one time, to a show I think!), but it looks like the super will elicit a lot more of that-"wow that looks cool" response, which will have people give the spot-nose itself a second look.

How sweet does vindication taste? Good on you!

I'm curious to know if you had offered any offspring for sale or did you secure the project until this point. I don't ever remember seeing any up for sale but I may be wrong.

Also, I remember seeing a photo once of a very bizarre imported hatchling that I think was in your posession. It was a slide that Ralph used in a talk he did up here in Canada. A lot of the slides came from Dave. If I recollect correctly, the hatchling eventually died but it reminds me of your new creation. Am I just imagining this?

Hey...a good name would be the 'Vindy Ball'. LOL! Congrats once again!

First off... CONGRATS Tracy!! Like most I was never overjoyed with the Spotnoses until I saw the male that NeilM brought with him to Daytona... very cool! I could certainly see the possibility of a Super in that snake. Glad it happened!!

Good old fashioned HARD WORK proved this one out... CONGRATS!

Now... about my title statement... No I don't think it has Pinstripe in it but DAMN... that is one serious dorsal striping. Are you SUUUUUUUUUURE? HAHA I don't care it's bad ass and now I want one! List me up Pleeeeeeease?

Begging over with. Drooling continues....

Good Luck!

No pinstripe, but some of the spot-nose do have great striping-and it has been in the variation-not all though. Here is a male spot-nose I hatched in early 2004, so you can see where the striped theme came from.

Myself? I have been working retail now for 5.5 years. Every year we buy 100, 200 and lately more baby balls. I think some are succulent. I think some are rather drab. But no matter my opinion, there is truly a buyer for every one. Black back? Blushing? Busy aliens? Something for everyone.

When I saw the pics of the "spot-nose" I said to myself "she has something, I dont know what. But it is definitely something". Just look at the head. Nobody knew what was hidden there. It could have been nothing more than simply a spotnose. I say, chase every lead. I would have on that one and probably will on another someday. Ralph may have called it dinkin' around. LOL

Great work Tracy. Now take the family into town and have a nice meal in celebration! Wooooohoooooo!
