HOW TO BUILD A FREEDOMBREEDER STYLE RACK>>>>>>>>INFO

ballfan May 18, 2005 09:18 PM

Built this rack about 2 years ago ... 4.5 Qt' Sterilite baby tubs (discontinued). Same heating method as freedom breeder.

Poor man's model, but efficiently houses 66 babies.

I think wood is the way to go for someone hoping to build their own hanging/open style rack. Nice job.

Did you use pegboard? Did you seal it with anything?

I assume this rack is for baby ball pythons? What are the benefits of a track-style rack vs. a "normal" rack? Is the extra ventilation needed or do you just prefer this type of rack for another reason?

They do tend to be more secure but I assume that's not a huge deal for BP's.

Yes, we used pegboard for the top, affords good ventilation. We like this system because of the ventilation, ease of use and mobility while still remaining sturdy (the metal frame used).

While not as expensive as a real Freedombreeder it is not exactly cheap. But we're happy with it.
