Odor question??? Info needed.

rdperry5 May 18, 2005 11:08 PM

We have a 52" female albino corn that we have had for a year and a half. Last week after she ate, I noticed an strong odor, and a small amount of a clear substance coming from her vent. Tonight when I went to pick her up, I noticed the same odor again. I think she may be getting ready to lay eggs.

Do they usually have a stronger odor when they're getting ready to lay eggs?

I prepared a bucket with damp peat moss for her and placed it in her den several days ago. She has been more active lately also.

Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I searched the web and couldn't find the answer to my question.

Is the odor maybe a defense mechanism, or because she is forming eggs, a combination of the two???

Sorry bout that, but I've never been aware of this in any of my breeding females.

Id say it's more likely that she was startled by something and musked.

Thank you.

That's my latest thinking.
