Anyone working with the western hognose with the green ground color? I have a female that I would like to pair up.
I just recently obtained two adult male Southern hogenoses from a local boy here in Florida who collected them.
The smaller male was induced to chase a treefrog right into an awaiting pinky, twice!
It seems like all you have to get is a feeding response and they will practically eat anything.
Several years ago, around 1980, I was working with a large adult female that I would place into a container to feed. After awhile, once placed into the container, she knew she was to be fed and would grab anything place in the container with her, including the small snake hook I used to manipulate the food item.
Eventually she laid seven eggs.
