Hi!

I'm not 100% sure that my second uromastyx really is U.acanthinurus (it has been sold to me as acanthinurus).
Somehow it looks like U.maliensis to me, but still somehow U.acanthinurus.
So, now I'm asking you to send me big and clear pictures of Uromastyx maliensis HEAD on every angle. (above, belov, side, front)
You can send pictures to my email or put them on the internet and send me the address. (you can also put pictures under this topic)

I'm also interested of hearing any comments about identification.

I'm not able to post pictures of my lizard at this moment...

I don't have any acanthinurus, but I do have three maliensis. To me (from pictures, and my own non-scientifically based observation), the head shape looks very similar. I've read that a common identifying coloration of the acanthinurus is a dark spot at the back of the head - as you can see on Audrey Vanderlinden's species page. You've likely been to Deer Fern Farms for their photos and descriptions.

Here's what I've got - hope it might help. Top three are a fully mature male. Bottom two are a younger male.

I have now been reading and studying the hole day, and the result is... That I'm more confused than before I started this! It's so hard, because the lizard is so dark.
I have to get the pictures of him soon.

He has been with me for three years now. And I bought him from a man, who was bought it two years earlier. He is quite small in size, so I was thinking if he is still in his "baby coloration".
But then... He has only sheded for ones, so I thought that he must be older. What do you think about this?

A pic would really help at this point. If identification is still difficult, you could send the pic to Doug Dix and he could identify it for you. He identified my malis' morphs for me

Ra just looks better and better the more i see him. I remember back when you got him, well done and great job on him!

Tank, my 1.0 Mali. About 2 yrs old now, still a juvie imo.

El_toro: My lizard is very dark, so it's impossible to say if there is a black spot in his neck. BTW, thanks for great link (uromastyx specialities) which I haven't been found yet!

Here are some accumulated pictures of "Archimedes". He was sold to me as an acinarthus (sp?), then I read a few places that that was the same thing as a mali... but that was a number of years ago. THings seem to have cleared up since then! lol. I am pretty sure he is a mali. Hope they serve to not confound you further.
