She's not gravid. At least not unless she has some retained sperm from last season. She looks like she's about to explode though, despite only having consumed two medium rats two days ago. This is the only female I have ever had roll like this for me. And she moved a bit!

I fed my female 2 mediums a few months back and she looked that stuffed too. I thought it was great that I had such a good feeder but the day after she ate them, she regurged them both. 2 big partially digested, decaying rats. What a disgusting, stinking mess that was to clean up. I was worried about her for a couple days but at least it had no bad effect on her. Now she only gets one at a time.

If you mean 2 med rats is heavy, then yes. My large females usually take 1-2 med rats every 7 days. Med rats are fairly small. Remember, you have large and jumbo after those. Mine could easily take large rats but I prefer smaller meals to larger ones.

2 medium rats for a 2000g ADULT female Ball Python is NOT heavy. I bet you couldn't even see a bulge in the snake. The snake pictured that's upside down, you can't even see where the rats are. That's an average sized meal.

That female may be building though. I' d stick a male with her. I've hatched eggs in November and December because of females like that.

Exactly!

That's what I'm thinking. I have a Pastel male I'm planning on throwing in with her. You never know. So far this year, one clutch is early and everything else is late. Go figure.

She's cranked over

I had a female 100% cranked over like that but she did ovulate a week later.

Good Luck Jay

over fed..............

2 medium rats is one too many

.......and yes she may be gravid whether you bred her or not..

yes she may lay duds.....yes she may resorb follicles.........yes as far as others say she may retain sperm from last year......(some say years)....

........looks like she needs to empty out really well and do a few pushups while she's at it........

>>over fed..............

Not hardly. She's a 2000 gram female. After she ate both med rats, you could hardly tell she fed on them. JY style:

Hardly......

Big female..... can eat much.... no dent..... you go fishing...

>>
>>2 medium rats is one too many

See above. JY style:

Said before.... read again.... plenty fine....

>>
>>.......and yes she may be gravid whether you bred her or not..
>>
>>yes she may lay duds.....yes she may resorb follicles.........yes as far as others say she may retain sperm from last year......(some say years)....

Once gravid, they will not reabsorb the follicles. At that point, they are no longer follicles. JY Style:

Gravid maybe.... follicles, reabsorb, not....

>>
>>........looks like she needs to empty out really well and do a few pushups while she's at it........

She does need to deficate but I'll let her know. JY style:

Crap... really big, needs... Ok... tell.... people are really stupid... really... really...

I was just thinking, am I that much of a geek that I'm sitting here literally laughing out loud at that? Oh well, I don't care, that was pretty damn funny.

toshamc May 19, 2005 08:20 PM

Now that was good

maybe we should pitch in and by him a copy of Dale Carnegie's "how to win friends and influence people"

LOL.

Just Kidding!

I'm not very good at the JY style

Too funny - gotta go
