Breeding Questions

I'm not really even sure what sex my garter is. But I been wondering somthing.

Would a checkard garter have to be breed to another checkard garter to produce healthy young? Can diferent garters breed basicly is my question?

It is possible to cross different species of garter snakes. But some species are more likely to cross than others. Even the ones that will mate are less willing than two snakes of the same kind. So your best bet is to pair up your checkered garter, if that is what you want to breed.
