ANYONE FROM MICHIGAN???

Krystal19_85 May 20, 2005 08:26 AM

Someone please tell me what is wrong with this classified ad?!

Bellua is a 10 foot, 8 year old Female Burmese Python, she is very tame and docile and loves to be handled. She enjoys being outside in the summertime and has never attempted to bite anyone. I must find her a new home because she is outgrowing her habitat here and I cannot afford to buy her a bigger enclosure and also I do not have the room in my home. She is a great eater and is currently eating 3 rats every 2 weeks. She enjoys taking baths and swimming as well. Her adoption fee includes her 55 gallon tank, locking lids, heat lamp and water dish. We are asking an adoption fee for everything. I need to find her a home ASAP. Please call or e-mail me for pictures.

This is just disturbing! Anyone care to rescue her? I would, but my fiance won't let me have anything that big, and I really can't afford to.

This is a very typical situation; well intentioned people who get in over their heads and then end up giving their pets suboptimal care (very small female for that age) until they finally find a new home where the new owners end up dealing with all sorts of problems. We took in over 40 burms last year alone. My facility is in Illinois (35 miles north of Chicago) so if this person was willing to drive a little ways, I'd be happy to help.

Thanks for responding. I know this is a ever too common situation, just makes me sick. The people who bought her knew she would get huge, they should have prepaired better. I do put blame on some of the petstores, most won't give any information at all and if they do give information, it is usually wrong simply to make a sale or simply because they have no clue.

I will respond to the ad and give them some contact information. Thanks again.

One needs to only read some of the posts to see the problem.
We are a consumer driven economy.Somebody wants to buy something, and there are more than enough people willing to sell it.
Mommy and Daddy dole out cash, for whatever, and there ya have it...a burm for adoption not cared for properly, an animal shelter filled to capacity with dogs, and cats...and so on.
Seems so many treat animals as garage sale items.

Doesn't it made you sick (and sad, and angry, and...) Burmaboy?!

Both my dogs are rescues, and whenever I want a pet, that is the first place I look. One day I wish I could go to a shelter and find them EMPTY... But we all know that will never happen.

I would like to start up my own rescue sometime, and I plan to, when I get the money. I just wish there was some way to make sure every pet could find the right home and people knew what they were doing! I want to find people like that and lock them in a box and throw them scraps of food when I feel like it. The worst are people who abuse the animals! I honestly woulden't trust myself around someone who abuses animals, I would seriously loose it and hit someone.

Do you know if she was adopted or not? Any new info?
Thanks,

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

The person never returned any of my E-mails. Typical, wish there was something I could have done.
