looking for Help.

I am trying to apply for a permit for P.molorus molorus. I have 1.0 currently, but the individual was purchased in my home state. I want to purchase one from ca. Also interested in indigos. I read the CITIES and you do not need cites permits for state to state but what permit do I need. Any help would be appreciated.

A bit confused here. What type of permit are you trying to get? For what purpose? If the animals aren't CITES I, you probably don't need a CITES permit for anything, unless you are trying to export or import (internationally) or expect an animal to go CITES I soon.

Does your state or city require a permit of some kind to own large reptiles?

If you are not in Ca. you will need either a captive bred wildlife permit or an interstate transport permit from USFW Dept. of Interior.Otherwise crossing state lines with them{shipping included} violates the lacey act.

Sorry for being dense, I thought you meant California.

Yes I did mean california. For the CITIES I animals like Indian pythons and eastern Indigos a permit is required to transport from state to state. You need a captivebred wildlife permit or an interstate commerce permit.

You may wish to contact Victoria Davis of the USF&W, as she handles the interstate permitting process for them. Her contact information is as follows:

US Dept of Fish and Wildlife 1875 Century Blvd. Ste. 200 Atlanta, GA 30345
phone404) 679-4176 e-mail: victoria_davis@fws.gov

If you have Adobe Reader, you can find a copy to the application by following this link:

http://forms.fws.gov/3-200-55.pdf

I keep and breed D. couperi (Eastern Indigos)so I have been in contact with Ms. Davis several times and have always found her to be very pleasant and helpful...

Good luck,

Jeff
