Yesterdays Adventure...

I've got 5 sulcatas. Einstein, the largest (15lbs) had a fun filled afternoon. See, I've been building them a 700sqft outdoor enclosure (cinderblock walls [will post pics soon]) and until it is finished, the torts have been staying in kiddie pools on the deck during the day. So, I went to work yesterday, having checked on the torts right b4 leaving, and about 3 hours in, the resturant recieved a frantic phone call from my mother. I picked up the phone and she said that Einstein had escaped, that she went to check on them and that he was just gone. She said she looked everywhere in the backyard and that the gate was closed, but that he might have gotten under it. So, I went to the owner and explained the situation and he allowed me to leave. Midway home, i get another call that she found him. So somehow he climbed out a 2ft high kittie pool, travedled down a 1ft high deck, attempted to dig out under the fence, got tired and burrowed himself under a foot of leaves/dirt in the corner of the yard before falling asleep. It just blew me away, he's never done anything like this before... just thought I'd share.

LOL I had one get lost on me once. I purchased a female Sulcata about 50 lbs. She was shipped to me in a wood crate. I brought her into the basement into the small room I use for a Quarentine room, I place the box on the floor when my daugter started screaming I went upstairs to see what they fuss was. When I went back downstairs about an hour later I saw the wooded crate in a million pieces in the middle of the floor (guess she got tired of waiting for me). The room was only 10X10 but is also a storage room so there is all kinds of stuff in it and now a 50lbs tort. I looked around wonder where on earth she could have gone. The door was shut. So finally after about a half hour of looking I found her backed into the corner under the shelf and behind the tool box (still not sure how she actually fit) and she had knocked a bunch of stuff off the shelve and buried herslf so I guess she though that would be a good time to nap til I found her.
