My tamatave is sitting under the heat lamp with his mouth gaping open... I've never seen him do this. Is this bad?

He's probably trying to release heat. What is the wattage on your light. Before I got my Cham. I bought a 150 watt bulb. Way too hot. So I changed it for a 100 watt bulb. It was still too hot and Elvis was going up there and gaping and only staying up there for like five minutes. Then I changed it for a 75 watt. Now the temp is around 90 and he loves it.
