egg problems?

apeilia May 20, 2005 09:57 PM

Has anyone ever had an egg that almost looked like it was leaking? I have a clutch of 7 eggs that was laid 1 week ago, and one of the eggs from the very beginning had a dark/wet spot on the shell that has progressed. I've tried to keep that one drier by not putting much vermiculite around it, but it's not working. It's sticky and part of it is now candling yellow. Any hope/suggestions?

No, the other eggs are fine and this one had the funny spot on the top when the female laid them on dry newspaper. It's mostly around that original spot, but now covering about 1/3 of the egg where it sunk in a bit and feels like there is fluid leaking out (looks a bit like dew, but very sticky). There is also a small but dark mass I can see in the same area on the inside, and about 1/4 of one end is now yellow and doesn't have veins anymore. I'm kind of thinking that this one won't make it...
I'll try taking a couple pics. Of course, this one has to be stuck to a good egg.
