8 weeks today. Almost out.

I think I figured out some things about my camera. These pics have alot more definition than usual. Anyway, all 6 are poking their heads out or more. All but 1 have completely filled out their eggs and it looks like they're just about done. The one that hasn't has some room left in the egg and doesn't seem totally "with it" yet. He'll probably need a few more days I guess. This one seems to look exactly like the mother. The rest seem to be really nice too. One has some great blushing. I can't wait till I can see them completely. Of course there will be pics when I can.

Basically the same pic. The top left is the one still needing some time.

I'm on day 53 of my first clutch, and seeing you over the past couple days cut your eggs and now watching them come out- it's great. I'm thinking about cutting one of mine, but I'm chicken. Would you do it again the same way if you had the chance?

Thanks. That's how I feel too looking at other people's pics. I cut mine at 53, this is 57 and 4 out of 6 are now out of the egg. I think the other 2 will be out tomorrow. To answer your question, no. Next time I will wait the extra 2 days until day 55 to cut them. I was just so curious I had to. It obviously had no bad effect on them and I'm sure you could cut yours too if you want. But I'm gonna try to do it by the book next time just to cut down even further on the possibility of any complications. If you do decide to cut them, just be very careful not to nick the babies. It's not as hard as you think it is. I know what you mean though about being nervous. Also be sure to let us know how they turn out.

It's cool to hear that your kids are coming out of the eggs now! I guess I will wait until Monday to think about cutting again. I may do it because I will be away from my babies for 2 days during Memorial weekend, and I would like the reassurance of seeing what is there and what is alive. (Although I believe my eggs are fine I worry about it a lot!!)

How is the one baby who seemed to need more time? Also, can I ask when the last time you candled is and what you saw in the eggs? I candled mine today and saw lots of veins and dark areas on the bottom of all the eggs, along with a bit of movement. I think it would be interesting to know what a fellow first-timer sees when they candle their eggs. Good luck with the next step on those cute little guys now-- feeding. Here's to having a bunch of f/t rat feeders!

I saw the same thing when candling mine. The last time I candled was right before I cut them. You seriously could cut them, just be careful. They're developed enough that cutting them just allows you to see them. I don't think they knew the difference. It also made me feel better that they didn't have to cut them themselves and could just come right out. I totally know what you mean about worrying about every little thing. In a few days, it'll be over and feel so good to be able to take down the incubator and just focus on the babies. That's how I feel right now anyway. Good luck man. Be sure to post your results. By the way, are you expecting anything "special" out of the clutch or should they all be normals? Here are mine:

Today is day 55 so I'm gonna wait. I think. I could change my mind at any minute!

My girl was bred by both a ghost and a pastel, so there could be a pastel in there. I don't mind if they all pop out normal as long as they're all right.

Congrats on your cuties. I will post pics of mine hopefully very soon!
