...you almost can't have too many thayer's around. They are just so darn interestingly variable. If you have a nice group of some of the different variants, they are never boring and the interest is always there. The terrible thing about it is... each time you add a different variant, the more impressive they are as a group and the more you want to add to the collection. It can be a terribly dangerous addiction!
Seriously though...
Getting serious about breeding thayeri as we are, which is something I have wanted to do for a number of years now, and considering it is getting later in life for me, I needed to build my breeding colony now and get them raised up. I put this group of thayer's together over the past 2 years. Adding one or two each year, producing a few babies, waiting for them to mature and continuing on from there, would have taken way too long for me to get to where I want to be. While the thayeri grow and mature, I am practicing and refining my breeding skills with the greeri, alterna and the one thayeri pair which includes the melanistic female.
Thayeri and alterna are by far my favorites out of the whole mess and my breeding interests will remain with them I'm sure. My interest in the greeri and mex mex is becoming somewhat casual now that the thayeri are all coming together. I can't see myself expanding on those and I wouldn't be surprised if I eventually see all but a pair of each of them leaving here.
