agressive male chuck

blankminded May 20, 2005 11:22 PM

Hey, just wondering, I have three male chucks and one female, and I was wondering if they would all get along in the same cage together. I just got finnished building a 15' x 4' x 4' pen. One of my males (just caught him) is really big and really agressive, and he was chasing and biting the others so I took him out. Is there a chance he'll ever calm down or establish dominence and leave the others alone? And if he does, is there a chance he will mess with the collareds or the desert iguana?

Thanks,
Joey

Not a good idea, wait and see what others have to say, but I was always taught Males will go at each other very aggressively!

I would seperate them, or sell off a couple.

I was lucky and have two males who never have fought, both are extremely friendly with me, and I think that helps, they stayed very gentle to each other also.

And I have my female in a seperate enclosure.

I think your playing with fire with all those lizards together.

Hope they all stay in one peice and healthy!

If they are all recent captures and it's possible for you to return to the exact capture sites, I'd recommend releasing two of the males. If you release them, and try to get a couple of juvie females instead (or settle for just your selected pair), they'd be happier and you'd have a much more harmonius pen. Or, you could always build each male his own residence ;0)
