It is carnival season again and the carnival midways will have games with live baby iguanas, anoles and turtles for game prizes.
It got very bad in Virginia and already see it started in Winchester.

This is something that we iguana owners need to deal with. We have had very good luck dealing with the Fair Boards.

Even if it hasn't happened in your area, it may start. Most of the fairs in VA did not have this problem before last year.

Carnival Iguanas

I live by the Canadian border, and that seems to be more of a problem over there at their festivals than it is here. In Buffalo, you can't even find iguanas in pet stores anymore, let alone fairs.

You mean you are seeing this in Canada? This is banned in the state of NY and msot of New England.

Yep, it happens in Niagara Falls, Ontario almost every summer. They have a little festival right by the falls.

I live in Buffalo, NY. It's like 15 minutes away from the Canadian border. We go to Canada a lot.

Can you find out who contract the midway? Complain to the mayor of Ontario.

I've made complaints directly to the people giving the iguanas away as prizes. Not to sound uncaring or anything, but I really don't think I would myself go ahead and investigate this at all. I'm not Canadian, and I don't want to be the American starting crap over there. I just don't give any money to those festivals in protest.

The canadian reptile rescues should be working on this. The Vendor NEVER cares. He is making money on the death of animals. The people who contract him need to hear what people think.

I totally understand that, and I'm not disagreeing with you. All I'm saying is that I'm not going to be the person that pursues the problem in Canada. I do what I can locally in my area, and that is on top of going to school fulltime, raising a 3 yr old, and working fulltime. I barely have time to just sit down and relax anymore, that's mostly why I haven't posted on this board in like 3 months. Also, after a recent trip to Canada, it doesn't seem that Canadians are pleased much with Americans right now.
