Any truth to the rumor that ......

they aren't going to be exporting ch babies anymore (or at least not as many)? It seems to me like this would be a major industry for them and to stop exporting would be like shooting themselves in the foot. It doesn't seem true, but then again I preordered CH groups from 4 different breeders (yes, well known breeders ) and 3 out of the 4 of them have either backed out of the deal or having a hard time filling thier orders. Just a freak year or possibly the end of mass export?

On another note already my local reptile rescue has offered me some hatchlings that have already been abandoned this year. Usually it's the end of summer before people loose interest, but it seems to have come early this year. So I'll be picking up 7 from them, probably all males tho.

I have heard that they are being reclassified as Appendix I, which basically means, if I understand it correctly, that the importation will be alot more difficult, and alot less than what it is now.

Someone posted exactly how many are being imported this year....but it may be a page or two back. I have ordered from someone as well, and only about 1/4 of the ones he ordered have come in. With the Cival War in Togo, it is difficult to send them out there. Alot of the "breeder/collectors" have had to drive to Ghana to ship them out. Or vice versa....I can't remember.

Maybe this could not be a completely bad thing? I know it would kind of suck to not be able to get the new blood importewed in every year. But think of the prices on CBB BPs; I would think they would sora. People wanting to buy a BP would have to think pretty hard, instead of just being able to pick one up for $25 (yes, I bought one at petco for that price years ago, lol.)
I think there would be many less unwanted BPs if this happened. The people who would lose out, are those who get to "cherry pick" the imports and find anything new or different looking.

the people who are just getting in.....like myself, who is only producing normals this year, will still have a chance to sell what we produce. It is hard to compete with $25 CH normals when I have CBB females for $100. I like the fact of CH animals for the simple fact that the small time breeder, can pick up normal females for pennies on what CBB animals go for.

I have also heard that CH animals grow slower, but I have an '04 CH female that is pushing 1100 grams, while I have a CBB '04 female from Snake Evolutions that eats just as much, and the same frequency as the CH girl that is just pushing 850 grams. I guess I chose the right time to get back in if this is one of the last years that they are imported.

I'll believe it when I see it. I've been hearing rumors of this since around '93 or '94, but what I've noticed is that there are more imported now than there where then. Same goes for the CITES II. I don't think they're going to cease exporting them in the near future........but I could be wrong. With increased interest comes increased demand.

You think maybe they are looking for yellowbellies, etc.?

What i mean is,just look at how long it took alot of us to "get it".They may be trying to figure it all out before they ship off any possible "diamonds"...just a thought.
