Tads to Froglets

TonyT Jul 12, 2003 02:31 PM

Here are a few pic of a tad to froglet tank I have made. Any thoughts or suggetions before I start the final stages to complete it? Is the slope to steep? Not tall enough? Any
CONSTUCTIVE criticism would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

That's pretty elaborate for raising tads. What happens when a clutch goes bad and you have to scrap and disenfect everything ?

Hey Tony, I think the slope looks good, I use a similar method in my tad tanks and use logs and aquatic plants to supplement the number of surfaces they can pull themselves up on during the morph stage. I find the "banana root" aquatic plants especially helpful for this type enclosure.

thats really cool and it looks like it would work well. What materials did you use and how did you make it?

I will raise the tads in jars till they get the front legs so if a clutch goes bad it will not be in this enclosure. The mesh is also covered by screen. The screen will be covered with lava rock then a layer of aquarium rocks. I will also put a water feature in it to circulate the water. This will help me to filter the water with a canister filter or pump with activated carbon to keep the water clean and clear. I will post more pics as it develops.

Thanks guys for the tips

What actually happened was I went to a flea market and this guy had these 3 old plexiglass boxes that were house speaker boxes. They had no fronts to them so I had to epoxy glue the back half to the box and the I used a piano hinge to connect the door. The corners of the door are held closed with the reptile locks shown in the other post. Hope all of this made sense. Happy froggin.
