Soaking Question

snakesnmore May 21, 2005 05:23 PM

Recently I acquired a 6ft JCP. I am new to them and probably have read everything about them and learned alot from this forum. So to my question now, He shed approx. 4 days ago and made the biggest poop I have ever seen a snake make. Before her shed he soaked alot and now after his shed he has been soaking all day. Is it normal for them to soak this much especially after a shed. I looked through its substate for mites and bugs but could'nt find anything. Just curious.

look in the water bowl for mites also. they will look like pepper. they would be hard to see in substrates. my 6 foot male JCP had mites when i first got him. he was like 3 foot then. you can see them on the snake. that is how i found them on mine. i saw them on him. little tiny bugs. that would be one reason he is soaking alot.
another thought is too warm of temp in you enclosure. or not enough humidity.
just my 2 cents...
