None are tame. They all bite at all times every time, any second of the minute. they get up to 10 feet long. They are great begginers snakes! Tiak is a rare GTP often attaining lengths of 12 feet. Thats all the information I know
What is the tamest GREEN TREE PYTHON?
There is no "tamest" green tree python. Some animals become calm and gentle at around 1 year old and remain so throughout life, while others can be defensive and bite throughout life. Although some locales such as Aru have a generally tame personality, there is always exception to the rule. Localities should not be relied on for choosing a "tame" animal.
WILL THEY STRIKE AT ANY GIVEN TIME?
They are wild animals. This is a question I get all the time when doing educational programs. Even the most "tame" snake can bite at any moment. Hope for the best and expect the worst.
HOW LONG DO THEY GET?
Most adults will average 40-60". Males tend to be a little smaller and with less noticable girth. I do however have a couple of adults that are well over the average. One is a female that captive bred in 1995. This girl is a healthy 6' easily. The last weight I got from her was right around 2000 grams. Another is a "male" Biak that was supposedly captive bred, although I have my doubts, and is also in the 6' range and weighs in around 1500-1800 grams. Most males in my experience will average 600-1000 grams, but I've also had a 6 year old proven breeder male never get past the 400 gram mark.
WHY ARNT THERE GOOD FIRST TIME SNAKES?
I think this one is a matter of opinion. If enough research is done long before getting the animal, one could be successful in keeping chondros. I think the reason most don't recommend them as first snake is because, newcomers tend to take the "cheapest" route when it comes to chondros. They often look for the "best deal" rather than the best animal. A very high percentage of imports come in problems that may not be seen for quite some time. The amount of vet visits will add up to, or surpass the cost of a true captive bred and born animal from a dedicated breeder. If you were to aquire a WELL STARTED chondro from a TRUSTED source, I have no doubt you would succeed. I DO NOT recommend anything less than 6 months old for anyone new to chondros. Anyone that has raised up entire clutches can back me up on this. Some do well and some don't.

These are the locality names given to animals that show resemblence in color and pattern to animals that come from these islands or regions of the mainland. Most cannot be documented and thus the term "type" is used behind the name to infer the animals appear to be "aru" or "biak". There are very few documented locality animals available, although some are a dead giveaway. The most confused, in my opinion, are the mainland and highland locales....Sarong, Jayapura, Arafak, Bokondini, Manokwari, etc. These all show a strong resemblence with color and pattern.
I hope this helps.
