Does anyone know any sites that have Daphnia, Copepods, Hydra, and other Microfood for newt larva? I have at least 1 pregnant female eastern spotted newt. Supposed to have 2 but the 2nd one doesn't look as fat as the 1st. I could go to a pond and get these and culture them. Anyone know what "signs" to look for in a healthy pond to harvest from? Also some of the larger Microfood would be good for the adults as I have 2.2 newts. Any info would be greatly appreciated. M**********

I dont know exactly where youre located, but in Kansas, look for a big temporary pool. No fish is a requirement, basically just a big puddle that fills up every year. Get a super fine net and just walk around draggin it and you should have quite a bounty of small yummies. I also collected dirt from a dry seasonal pool and hatched them at home. just add distilled water, and within days you will see critters swimming around. Ive hatched daphnia, seed shrimp, clam shrimp, tadpole shrimp, fairy shrimp, copepods, hydra, and various other creatures I was unable to identify.

These guys have superfast shipping, and their cultures are big. I tried buying from a competitor (Wormman), and got a rotten culture TWICE. The first one was 8 days late. The second one was 3 days late. Live Food Cultures got my daphnia here overnight!
