Red Tail Boa Burrowing in substrate

Tejasranger May 21, 2005 10:59 PM

She is about 3 months old and I haven't had her but a few weeks. Two days ago I noticed that she had burrowed under the Aspen substrate with only her head exposed. She stayed like that for two days, today way cage cleaning and feeding day. She ate as usual, and doesn't appear to be suffering any illness. Earlier this evening I looked in on her and there she was back under the substrate. Is this a common behavior?

Its not uncommon ,if you don't have a hide box try giving her one she would most likely go inside of it insted of burrowing .

my redtail(guyana) burrows all the time. He has two hides and prefers to burrow. Good luck with your new snake.
