Just built a new rack today, it'll hold seven 7' boas... Didn't turn out too bad..

It's not finished yet, just have the frame work finished.. I'm going to enclose the sides and the top with some type of paneling and install a wood framed door with an acrylic window on the front, throw some stain on and it's done... I've been using these bins for a while now, they are AWESOME, 19.5x42.5x6.7" and 15 bux at Linens and Things.. I was sick of them being stacked on one another, so I built a little rack.. It's great, I can use the lids for the bins because there is a hinge in the center that allows you to open one end at a time, so you only need to pull the bin out 1/2 way while it still holds onto the rack... It was 65 for lumber, not sure how much the door will cost, 105 for the bins and about 40bux for flexwatt.. 200 bux isn't bad for housing and heating 7 large snakes in a compact area with easy access... I'm not selling these, just thought I'd give someone an idea. Thanks

Awesome rack and idea. I wish I knew how to build things. Guess I'm just stuck with this setup until I can afford some Boaphiles or Animal Plastics'. Good luck with your project Joe.

.. I have a rack-system that I've built and used for many years, they hold up well and are great for juvenile Boa.

Here's a link to the plans:

That's an awesome rack, I'm gonna have to try building one and see how it turns out.. Cages are great, but when you have a TON of snakes (i don't yet, but plan on it VERY soon), it can get expensive to house them, bins are easier to clean and much cheaper.. It would have cost 1400 plus heat to house the same amount of adult males, compared to the 200bux I spent on building a rack myself.. And Ryan, I'm not very good at building stuff either, that was the first rack I've built and I've got cages I practiced on that are in the garbage.. You just have to practice at it, come up with your own designs or follow someone elses.. If it costs you 200 bux in wasted material to get good at building racks and cages, it will save you a TON of MONEY and SPACE in the future.. The only snakes I'll put in cages from now on are bigger females and snakes that are breeding..
